Growing the
edible fungi is relatively easier if one has access to the best quality breeds
and this goes without saying. One will always look for kinds that yield the
fungi faster than expected. This becomes conventionally easier and since it
does not require large plots of land to produce, they are quite economically
viable. For them to grow in great quantities the one prerequisite is patience
because that is what the fruiting requires. Temperature conditions are
certainly important other than patience but all you have to be is an
intelligent grower. They can be ideally grown outdoors, indoors and on the logs
too. However, there are some important facts that one must know about them and
they are as follows.
Getting the breed and the substrate
For the culture, one must get hold of the
mushroom
spawn for sale from reputed brands like agrinoon.com. Using a culture that is sterile one can easily produce great
varieties of the fungi. A breed that is
pre-inoculated is ready to buy is available from well-known suppliers. Hence, you will not have to make your own as
it can be a costly affair.
Substrate preparation
After you have
received the mushroom spawn for sale, the
preparation of the substrate has to be done. Thus, you need straws that have to
be wetted and chopped well. After the hay is soaked it is advisable that this
straw must be heated in a pot of boiling pot of water. After having continued
with the boiling it has to be made sure that pieces of straw are removed.
Bag Packing
At this stage, there should be plastic bags which must
be packed with straw and the breed. Three to two inches of the straw must be
packed into the plastic bag and the breed must be sprinkled evenly. This
process must be repeated while the bag is filled almost after the top is closed
and holes have to be poked.
Incubation
The
temperature regarding the growth of the fungi has to be maintained and it is
also the most important step. A good seventy degrees Fahrenheit works best. At
this stage, the bags must be placed on
the shelving units. Care has to be taken so that natural light does not enter
and thus every window crack must be covered. A red darkroom light is fine to
keep a check on it. After few days
have passed you shall notice mushroom pinheads.
Fruiting the breed
High level
of humidity is the key behind the spawns to be bigger mushrooms. Thus, the required temperature must be around sixty
degrees Fahrenheit. Ample light is needed in this phase and the mycelium has to
be shocked so that there is force production of mushrooms.
